In 1888, a daring female journalist goes undercover and a falsely committed inmate rebels in this riveting original play. Inspired by Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Packard, and featuring a cast and crew of area high school students with award-winning actor Holly Twyford, the most ambitious Signature in the Schools production to date descends deep into the horrors of Blackwell Island, the notorious women’s asylum.

Signature in the Schools, Signature Theatre’s flagship education program, is a multifaceted program that encompasses workshops for English, Social Studies and Theatre classes, theatrical training for young artists, and the creation of an original play. The program includes pre-show visits to school classrooms, resources for students and curriculum guides for teachers. Signature in the Schools is offered to all participants free of charge. Students from throughout Northern Virginia also attend daytime performances for free to see their peers perform.

The BSF/Annual School Fair is the premier event of its type in the DC Metro area. It is a forum for Washington metropolitan area families to meet with representatives from more than 70 local and national independent schools and educational programs. Each year, over 3,000 parents and prospective students receive first hand knowledge about each school's programs, community, and policies concerning admission and financial aid. As usual, the School Fair will also feature workshops on academic achievement, diversity and other educational and wellness issues.

A special workshop is an inaugural STEM Pavilion. This will include several mini-workshops on a host of STEM topics including, programming-related competitions, robotics classes, coding classes, etc. Most of the workshops will provide information on STEM-enrichment opportunities available to local youth.

Our objective is for every child to have the best learning opportunity possible, starting with making sure they have the necessary tools they need to be successful in the classroom. This is often impossible for many families whose budgets are already stretched too thin. The Back 2 School Bash will provide students in our community with the supplies they need to succeed in school this year.

We’re hoping to be provide each child in K-12 grade in our community that attends a backpack and school supplies again this year.
