Join us for Teenfest, an exciting kickoff to the Safe Summer campaign by the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation! This event features live performances, swimming, free food, dancing, basketball, and more. Teenfest marks the start of our late-night summer recreation program, offering extended community center hours for teens and young adults who are Prince George’s County residents. Safe Summer runs from June 24 to August 17.

Presenting the 4th Annual Miss HBCU Teen Scholarship Pageant!

Over 25 talented high school students compete to earn over $7,000 in scholarships to pursue higher education at their prestigious HBCUs! It’s a night of royal Black Girl Magic! You & your daughter, sister, or friend won’t want to miss this show as we crown the next Miss HBCU Teen Queen. This is an HBCU inspired pageant that provides a similar experience for all its participants and attendees!

As the finale to our intensive 4-week “Reap What You Sew” design workshop, this fashion show will present the fabulous creations of our teen participants. This event will be held at the Bowie Performing Arts Center.

Join Afrobeats Essentials and discover the fun and joy of dancing. Whether you're a teen or an adult, this class is perfect for you. With prior experience or not, you'll learn or perfect your steps like Gwara Gwara, Zanku, and Azonto. Come and be part of our community-based, high-energy, and beginner-friendly class!

Calling all future fashion designers! We are looking for 20 creative teens (ages 10-17), who love fashion design. The selected teens will create their very own Fashion Week-worthy look. During this intensive four-week workshop, participants will also attend beneficial mental health/dating abuse workshops.

In 1888, a daring female journalist goes undercover and a falsely committed inmate rebels in this riveting original play. Inspired by Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Packard, and featuring a cast and crew of area high school students with award-winning actor Holly Twyford, the most ambitious Signature in the Schools production to date descends deep into the horrors of Blackwell Island, the notorious women’s asylum.

Signature in the Schools, Signature Theatre’s flagship education program, is a multifaceted program that encompasses workshops for English, Social Studies and Theatre classes, theatrical training for young artists, and the creation of an original play. The program includes pre-show visits to school classrooms, resources for students and curriculum guides for teachers. Signature in the Schools is offered to all participants free of charge. Students from throughout Northern Virginia also attend daytime performances for free to see their peers perform.

Don’t miss the second annual Festival of Cultures presented by the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System! Celebrate the many cultures that make up the county at the new Hyattsville Library. Bring your friends and family to enjoy storytimes, crafts, snacks, and performances from community artists and musicians. Registration is encouraged but not required to attend.
