Shelton Cornelius Price, a phenomenal male artist, hails from Washington, DC. As a dedicated healthcare provider and military veteran, he discovered his passion for singing during active duty. Inspired by Motown legends like Marvin Gaye, Shelton’s silky-smooth voice has taken him worldwide. His sold-out shows, including performances at The Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar & Grill, Bethesda Blues, and Jazz Supper Club, and City Winery Philadelphia, offer an unforgettable “REMEMBERING MARVIN” experience. With a unique ability to captivate audiences, especially the ladies, Shelton’s artistry ensures lasting memories.

L.T.D. (which stands for Love, Togetherness, and Devotion) was formed in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1968, and is best known for hits like “Back in Love Again” and “Holding On,” as well as their soulful ballads such as “Love Ballad” and “Where Did We Go Wrong.” This tribute promises to take you back to the days of sweet love ballads with the music of Jeffrey Osborne and L.T.D.

Join us for a live tribute to Gil Scott-Heron, the renowned American jazz poet, singer, and musician celebrated for his impactful spoken-word performances during the 1970s and 1980s. This event features DC-based vocalist and songwriter Cecily, who is praised for her agile soprano and honest lyrics. Her sound, characterized by a soothing richness, draws inspiration from mid-century soul, jazz, 1990s R&B, and reimagined folk music. Her debut album Songs of Love and Freedom earned her a 2019 Wammie Award for Best Soul Album. This tribute promises to honor Scott-Heron’s influential music, which significantly shaped the hip-hop and neo-soul genres. This performance will feature an all-live band with performances by Cecily, Wes Felton, Kim Jordan, Ka’Ba SoulSinger, and Saleem Waters.

Montpelier Arts Center honors Aretha Franklin, a singer, songwriter, and pianist whose career spanned an incredible six decades. The UMD Wind Orchestra pays tribute to American conductor and arranger Donald Hunsberger. From 1962 until his retirement in 2002, he served as professor of conducting and ensembles at Eastman School of Music. During his 37 years as conductor of the school’s acclaimed Eastman Wind Ensemble, Hunsberger premiered more than 100 compositions and maintained a repertory ranging from the 16th-century through contemporary works by Joseph Schwantner, Michael Colgrass and Karel Husa, among others.

This performance features works that Hunsberger arranged or scored, including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Variations for Wind Band, Julian Work’s Autumn Walk and the iconic Star Wars Trilogy by John Williams. The School of Music’s newest Assistant Trombone Professor Myles Blakemore joins the orchestra for a performance of Quinn Mason’s Trombone Concerto, which demonstrates the instrument’s full musical capabilities in just three movements.

A live tribute to the music of Curtis Lee Mayfield featuring the Brencore All Stars. “Over the course of a five-decade career, Mayfield innovated a hybrid form of spiritual and secular soul music, one that spoke to the democratic idealism and aspirational foot-soldiering of the civil rights and Black Power movements in the ’60s, and to the materialist upwardly mobilized ambitions of the postrevolutionary ’70s.” – Greg Tate.

Internationally acclaimed Israeli writer and filmmaker Etgar Keret is the distinguished speaker for this year’s Dubin Family Lecture. Keret will share his unique perspective on Israel’s current political and social challenges through a writer’s lens. Known for his short stories that rarely extend past four pages, Keret fuses the bizarre with the banal and offers a window into a surreal world that is both dark and comical. In addition to being bestsellers in his home country, Keret's books appear worldwide in over 45 languages. His books include “The Bus Driver Who Wanted to Be God,” “Missing Kissinger,” “The Nimrod Flipout,” “The Girl on the Fridge,” “Suddenly a Knock on the Door” and “Fly Already,” which won the prestigious Sapir Prize for Literature. Keret is also the author of a memoir, “The Seven Good Years,” in which he contemplates moments of his life against a backdrop of constant conflict, casting an absurd light on both the monumental and mundane. Keret’s stories inspired Polish architect Jakub Szczesny to build the narrowest house in the world in Warsaw. Keret's work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian and The Paris Review, among many other publications. More than 60 short films have been based on his stories. As a filmmaker, Keret’s screenplays include “Skin Deep,” “Wrist Cutters” and “Jellyfish.”

The event will begin with a tribute to the memory and legacy of Ambassador Joseph Gildenhorn by his wife, Alma Gildenhorn. The lecture will also include remarks from Dean Stephanie Shonekan, a Q&A and a book signing.

The BanGos are an all-female tribute band to the Bangles and the Go-Go’s. The band is comprised of five seasoned musicians who have come together to pay tribute to these two iconic bands from the 1980’s. The Allman Others Band (AOB) is Washington DC’s premier tribute to the legendary Allman Brothers, expertly recreating the magic of classic Fillmore East, Watkins Glen, and other historic ABB concerts every time they take the stage.
